If a painting stays in the studio long enough it will get reworked. A majority of the time it usually comes out better, this is one of those paintings. Originally I had painted the woman in front on a white background with dots. She was great, she graced the cover of a Life magazine highlighting swimsuits of the 50's. Yet the painting sat quietly, shown a couple of times I knew it needed more. While on a cross country trip to drop my daughter off at college we visited the San Diego Museum of art. I saw this painting and knew that's what the painting in my studio needed. Coming back to the studio armed with photos I masked out the original dots and painted the Baroque couple behind the dots. For the life of me I can't remember the title or artist of the painting. It just worked. To the right of the woman I added the cover of a pulp magazine "Live Fast, Die Young." It seemed appropriate with the romance and classical imagery on the left in contrast with the black and white image of the woman. So there you have it...I leave it to your interpretation.
