This is #3 out of 7 paintings I created for the "Beginnings" series. All the pieces have the projector countdown screen in the background. Each of the original paintings has a word painted on the side of the panel. This piece has "COAST" thus the name of the piece, this all makes sense.
In the original painting I painted with encaustic (wax + natural pigment) which captures the movement of the hair in a single brush stroke. The layers of paint build up to a sunlight reflection on her forehead and the sunglasses bring out the glam. Lime green spray paint gives action to the piece as she turns away.
